BBC News continues downhill (3)

Posted by Polonius on 7 April, 2007

This morning’s BBC News rolled out rent-a-gob Major General Patrick Cordingley to comment on recent events in Iran. No doubt everyone concerned with the interview heaved a sigh of relief when he managed to get through the interview without once mentioning the word “nigger“, but wouldn’t it have been simpler not to give the bigoted buffoon the airtime?

BTW, the word “buffoon” has largely fallen out of use. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Boris Johnson for his relentless efforts to save it from extinction.

That phrase used to be in regular use somewhere that both you and I know. I did myself no favours by challenging it. Further details on request. There was also another buffoon who regularly used a nickname not dissimilar to Jade Goody’s mum’s famous example of wit. Not to mention some puzzling references to ‘a nip in the air’.
